- Meet with guidance counselor and check to make sure your teen in on target to graduate on time and college-ready.
- Help your teen prepare for the PSAT, the Preliminary SAT and National Merit Qualifying Exam.
- Begin to explore colleges on the internet. Use the College Search station [link to College Search-Teens page] in the virtual Aspirations Lab to look at colleges. Unigo gives you an interesting student-eye view of colleges and easy access to a college’s newspaper, radio station and other media formats.
- Encourage your teen to participate in school-sponsored college trips.
- Research your teen’s opportunity to take early college classes as a junior and senior. Students sign up for classes in the spring and summer of their junior year. Visit the Early College Classes [link to: Early College Program page] station in the Teen’s Virtual Aspirations Lab.
- Decide if your teen should take Advanced Placement courses as a junior. Most high schools offer AP classes which are college-level courses taught by high school teachers who have been trained in the curriculum.
