Employers >> Why Get Started?
Who benefits when employers support employee education and training?
Employers do!
Educating employees means they work smarter and cope better with workplace change. That improves productivity and increases output – and it’s cheaper to develop current employees than spend money on recruitment. Educational support for employees also builds loyalty and lowers turnover.
Employees benefit, too!
Higher levels of education mean higher lifetime earnings potential and greater job satisfaction
And don’t forget, our community benefits as well!
A better educated workforce increases a community’s quality of life, helps attract better-paying employers, and even ensures greater educational success for the next generation
Here’s what you can do:
- Provide information on the importance of attaining a college degree and/or professional certification.
- Circulate information about higher education resources, financial aid, and scholarships for employees (as well as their family members).
- Outline possibilities for increased earning potential/career development based on education credentials.
- Add college degree/certificate achievement into your company or organization’s mission statement to show you value education.
- Include a question about education/training into the annual employee review process.
- Link the college degree/professional certification to potential increased career opportunities within your company or field of work.
- Visit the Maine Employers Initiative website or consult Maine Employers Initiative staff for guidance at 626-3124 or pathart@mdf.org.
